Scrap Happy in September

Good heavens, it's been a whole month since I last posted! I can only say I have a list of excuses, none of which you want to be bothered with.

Last month I shared the pink scroll I'd been working on. This is how I finished it off:

I backed the length of the scroll with that mottled pink batik and then also wrapped a short strip of batting with the same fabric. I included a loop of elastic cord when I closed up the batting "spool." It loops over the button at the end of the scroll. And then the whole thing rolls up and gets tied with some sari ribbon.

I added a bead before tying on the heart charm at the end of the ribbon. That project was so much fun I went right ahead and made another one.

Can I just say, scrolls are frustrating to photograph. I tried making a video but wasn't allowed to upload it here for some reason.

I lined this scroll and then looked around for something to wrap it around. Finally I just gave up and wrapped a bit a batting around a wooden clothes pin, secured it with a few stitches, and then wrapped the scroll around that.

(I do love variegated threads.)

I wrapped this one in the opposite direction from the pink scroll. It just seemed to read better that way.

Scrap Happy Day is hosted on the 15th of each month by Kate at Talltalesfromchiconia. We share something we've made out of scrap materials or something repurposed. Some of our makes are useful, others are more decorative like these scrolls. 😊

  6. Your scrolls are a delight. It looks like fun and relaxing work as well. As for the video, I've struggled myself to post, eventually figuring out the proper combination of settings. Another option is to create a free YouTube account, post, then import from there.
